"I captivated customers with a moisturizing mask pack" Moisturizing effect of mask pack using 'Nanocellulose' derived from seaweed is improved by 40-50% Reporter Cho Kyu-hong hong@knnews.co.kr / Input: 2020-06-14 21:59:46 REACNF was founded in March last year as a company that researches and develops materials such as pulp, sheet, and Nano Cellulose using natural materials. In October last year, the first product, "Beauty curator " mask pack, was released, and a new material, "Nano Cellulose", was used to increase the moisturizing function by nearly 40-50% compared to the mask packs on the market.
On the 11th, Jae-Hyeon Han , CEO of REACNF, a company moving into Changwon National University's general education center, poses in the laboratory / REACNF
Nanocellulose is an eco-friendly polymer material that decomposes cellulose, the main component of plant cell walls, into a size of one billionth. It weighs one-fifth of iron, but its strength is five times stronger and its ability to prevent gas and oil from penetrating is excellent, so it is used in vehicle paints and flexible batteries throughout industries such as IT, automobiles, and medical fields. Lia CNF produced a mask pack by utilizing the function of holding moisture among the strengths of nanocellulose. In particular, existing nanocellulose is mainly made of wood and is used, but REACNF is made using the stems of agaris commonly found in the South Sea and Southeast Asia of Korea and is highly regarded in terms of eco-friendliness and resource recycling.
Using this, it can delay the drying time of the mask pack in the air by 50% compared to the existing product, which increases skin absorption. With this functional excellence, REACNF first entered the U.S. market and attracted customers. Last year, it entered Louis and Dor Inc, a retail store in LA, and CGET Inc. through the support of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). At these stores, REACNF's mask packs were recognized by consumers for their functionality, surpassing famous cosmetics brand products and ranked first in sales among mask packs. In addition, it is meeting with consumers through online open markets in February this year and is gaining word of mouth. Based on this technology, REACNF is also pushing to enter Asian and European markets.
Contracts have already been made with Vietnam and Dutch companies, but their advancement has been somewhat delayed than previous plans due to the recent disconnection of international logistics due to COVID-19. However, it is preparing to successfully expand overseas markets excluding the U.S. within this year.
REACNF is putting a lot of effort into research as well as production. Nanocellulose using seaweed does not have an international standard for cosmetics, so it is currently preparing to register with the International Cosmetics Component Dictionary (ICID).
Currently, REACNF has completed registration of raw materials for international cosmetics by 80 to 90%, and once registration is completed, it is expected that it will be able to secure more competitiveness as a company with original technology.
It is conducting joint research with research teams related to Changwon University and Gyeongsang National University, and is also conducting various R&D with the support of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Gyeongnam Techno Park. In addition, Lia CNF is preparing to release a new natural aroma perfume (fiber perfume) following the mask pack. It is expected to receive attention in line with daily quarantine by adding aroma-derived antibacterial functions.
CEO Jae-Hyeon Han said, "There is a high expectation that seaweed-derived nanocellulose, which is at the end of the study, can be a breakthrough new material for cosmetics ingredients." In addition, "Korean companies with new technology will not stop efforts to grow into" he said.
